2013 Gillig ZEPSLF40E Bus - Diesel Converted to Electric. This bus was purchased to use new experimental technology. At this point, the batteries are not holding their charge as long as expected and diagnostic and repair costs are prohibitive. The transferring department indicates that the bus still runs and takes a charge. Heavy A/C and heater usage causes too much of a battery drain for the unit to continue being used for it's intended purpose. There are a few minor dents and dings. A PDF copy of the vehicle report has been added to this auction. PLEASE NOTE: University of Utah Surplus DOES NOT provide temporary tags. It is the responsibility of the buyer to obtain tags. ITEMS MUST BE PAID FOR WITHIN 5 BUSINESS DAYS AND PICKED UP WITHIN 10 BUSINESS DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSING during normal business hours of 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Pick up of items MUST be completed by 5:00 PM. We will not pick, pack, or ship. For a full list of items available at University of Utah Surplus and Salvage, please visit fbs.admin.utah.edu/surplus.

Q: Does it come with a charging system? (10/13/20 9:08 PM) A: It is my understanding that the charging system is not included. I was told that the power requirements for a charger is similar to a welder. (10/14/20 10:13 AM) |

Q: Hello,
Which company did the diesel-electric conversion? Are they still in business?
When you stated the repair costs to be prohibitive what quote were you given?
Is the Diesel Engine still in the bus and just been by passed by the Electric Conversion?
Is that a roof A/C or part of the Electric battery storage area?
Thank you (10/16/20 9:10 AM) A: Please send an email to mike.gordon@utah.edu. The answers I received to your questions are too lengthy to include here and also contain some attachments. I will forward the answers to your email. (10/16/20 11:13 AM) |
